Lobster is the new theatre arm of Covernomics, founded with a bold vision to bring outstanding drama to the heart of the East Midlands. Our first season will take root in Sherwood, Nottingham, with a programme designed for and with the local community. We believe theatre should be accessible and ambitious: a place where audiences encounter classic works in vivid new productions and where new writing has a platform to tell the stories of today.
At Lobster, we believe theatre should do more than entertain, it should connect us, challenge us, and reflect who we are. Under the artistic direction of Alicja Shaw, Lobster is committed to celebrating the power of live performance through a programme that honours the great classic plays whilst also championing fresh writing for the stage. By reaching back to landmark plays and forward to new writing, we aim to spark connection, challenge perspectives, and celebrate the shared experience of live performance.
Theatre matters. Because sitting together in the dark, sharing a story, is one of the most human things we can do and because everyone deserves theatre that is bold, welcoming, and unafraid to take risks.
